Lead Order Picker

Department: Warehouse

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Summary:

The Lead Picker processes and prepares orders for delivery and customer pickup. This position coordinates with Transportation, Purchasing, Sales, Receiving, Inventory and Customer Service departments to prioritize the picking team’s workflow based on customer needs, delivery schedules, and available inventory. The Lead Picker trains and evaluates new hires on warehouse protocol and provides logistical support for the Warehouse Manager.

Duties:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
• Receives and reads customer orders to identify item(s) to be pulled and picked from inventory.
• Prioritize, process, and prepare outbound orders for next day, same day delivery, and customer pickup.
• Communicate with Purchasing on special instructions (allocated items).
• Communicate with Sales and Customer Service team on outstanding orders/customer needs.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety regulations.
• Organize and lead team meetings.
• Enforce staging protocol for team members.
• Perform nightly closing duties and conduct end-of-shift reports.
• Assess team members' speed and accuracy.
• Schedule and reschedule delivery dates.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Experience:

Previous warehouse experience preferred.

Education:

· High School Diploma or GED
· Three (3) years of experience working in a warehouse and performing similarly related duties.
· One (1) year of experience leading a team.
· Certification and ability to operate a fork-lift and picker.

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM

While appropriate safety gear and procedures are in place, the working environment for this position is a warehouse with exposure to toxic and non-toxic fumes, noxious odors, dust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
· Ability to operate and maintain certification for a fork-lift and picker, both stand up and sit down.
· Ability to stand, bend, crouch, stoop extended periods of time.
· Ability to consistently lift 20-50 pounds.
· Ability to occasionally lift 50-100 pounds with assistance.
· The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences which includes the ability to understand and hear the speech of another person.
· The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
· The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
· The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
