All About Mop Heads

Yarn End Types

Cut-End

Cut-End mop heads tend to fray, lint and unravel with steady use. Non-launderable, these mops need to be replaced more often than other types.

Loop-End

Loop-End mops resist tangles, lint and fraying for more efficient and longer lasting use. Tough enough to stand up to heavy use, these mops have a sewn-in tail band that provides wide surface coverage without gaps. Some Loop-End Mops may be laundered with care.

Material

Cotton

Good absorption and retention with a low initial cost. Cotton needs to be broken in for best use. Moderate linting and slow drying, this type is best for general use.

Rayon

Rayon has quick absorbtion & release properties. It dries fast, is mildew resistant and lints less, but has less liquid retention. This material is best for applying liquids for finishes and disinfectants.

Synthetic

Synthetic yarn fights bacteria, mold and mildew while providing superior strength. Synthetics have a higher upfront cost and are not as absorbent as other materials. Best for clean rooms & rough surfaces.

Blends

Blends are the ideal choice for performance, durability and price. Synthetic fibers add color and these fibers may shrink over time. Best for professionals who require a better, more durable mop
